How do I move my existing Windows XP Professional to my new hard drive

I currently have Windows XP Professional installed on an existing hard drive
(Going Bad).
I want to move the entire Windows XP Drive , including all applications,
Exactly and it's on the old drive to the new drive.

Copying folders and documents is easy, but I don't want to reinstall over
250 applications, and have to set them up, this would take weeks.. I assume
this requires re-registration with MS that's no problem.

Can anyone advise how to move my entire Windows XP and applications to a new
hard drive..

Any help much appreciated..

actually, with ghost, and i think with drive image as well, if you keep your current C: drive in as the master, and hook your new drive up as the slave, you will be able to boot in with their boot floppies and do a direct drive to drive copy, bypassing that second step of creating an image...
but i agree with bar's suggestion on using ghost or drive image, they have never failed me yet.

If you were to buy a retail packaged Maxtor drive, then it is supplied with a Hard drive utility CD. This includes all the software to format, partition and also to 'copy' an existing System drive [C-Drive] such that when the proceedure is complete, you disconnect the old drive and configure the new drive in its place.

Failing that you can buy Drive Image or Ghost: a 2 step process is required to create an image file of your existing C Drive and then restor that image to the new drive and place it as the C Drive.

Wiyj DI (either v7.0 or 2002), it's just one step - "Copy Drives". there's
no need to create an image.

Thanks everyone for the advise.
I just happen to have a copy of Norton Ghost 2003 at work, I'll bring that
home tomorrow and give it a go..
Thanks again..
