How Do I Merge 2 partitions Using computer Management in XP Pro?

Is it possible to merge 2 partitions using XP Pro's computer Management? I
can delete the small partition but can't see any way of merging this
unallocated space into the main partition. The main partition is my main
(primary) hard drive.
Do I need something like partition magic?

Nop, disk management doesn't allow you to merge partitions.. You'll have to
use a third party software..Here is a link for Partition Manager, a free
tool that might help you:
http://www.sofotex.com/3D-Partition-Manager-v.-2.37.10-download_L1884.html.
Partition Manager Publisher's Description:
Partition Manager - create, delete, resize partitions. Format and resize
FAT-16 and FAT-32 file systems. Advanced Boot Manager - select active
partition at the boot time, boot from the second hard drive. Hide/unhide
partitions. Create up to 31 primary partitions on a single hard drive

Hi Mate - This liink contained a dos based program, not a Windows interface.

That wont be much use to the OP if his partition is NTFS according to that
write up.

Sorry again, guys. PM ver 8.0 is a demo version and wont carry out the
execution. Nice program though. Back to the drawing board!

You need to know that changing the partition size that xp resides in, will
require a repair install of xp!
and PM 8 is the way to go, so buy the program

Good choice Joan - I use Acronis as well.

There is no way to repartition it using native Windows tools without
deleting the existing partitions, and creating and formating new
partitions, and then reinstalling the OS and applications.

There are, fortunately, quite a few 3rd party products that can
help you repartition the hard drive non-destructively. Two such
products are Symantec's Partition Magic and BootItNG. The latter even
has a free, fully functional 30-day evaluation version available for
downloading from www.bootitng.com.

Hi Guys - Thanks to all who replied to my question on merging partitions. I
bit the bullet yesterday and bought the full version of Partition Magic 8.0.
Great program and so easy to use. Is £50 ($80 - $90) good for one small job?
Perhaps the cost out-weighed the recovery of a small portion of a large
drive. I only needed to recover 6gig from a total of 180gig and on hindsight
ask when I'll need it again. Ah, well, the joys of home computing!
