how do I leave an away message?

I have outlook express. My online status does not highlight. How do I leave
an away message.

This newsgroup discusses Outlook, not Outlook EXPRESS.

My online status does not highlight.

OE doesn't have an "online status", whatever that is, to "highlight".

How do I leave an away message.

Use a rule which means having to leave OE running, leave your computer
powered on, hope the OS stays up, and hope that you continual to have
Internet access while you are away.

Or use the auto-responder up on the server for your account.
