How do I kill InstallShield update?

When I was in the middle of working with a big, complicated text file
today, the window disappeared because the InstallShield wanted to go get
an update, even though I've set it to 0 programs updated never. I
suspect this is also the program trying to connect on startup sometimes.
Their website says to download another program which (supposedly) will
change the settings on the virus they've already installed. (They don't
call it a virus but that's what it acts like.) Is there any other way
to kill it? It doesn't show in StartUp or Scheduled Tasks.

Hello, Ed.
Have a try to run "msconfig" command in Start->Run bar. Under the
"STARTUP" tag u will find the answer. I hope some help will do.

Right, in MSCONFIG it shows up as ISSCH--the Install Shield scheduler--
in Startup. If unchecking it doesn't work, I'll delete Program Files >
Common Files > Install Shield > AGENT and ISSCH.
