How do I insert page numbers when using columns.

Hi there,
I have created a doument with two columns on each page page and am using the
index and tables to create a Table of Contents. However I am unablew to get
the page numbers to appear at the bottom of each column, even though I have
inserted Column breaks. The page number appears at the bottom of the whole
page for the two columns, and I would like a page number for each column.

Can you help, many thanks in advance.

Although it is possible to use calculated page numbers (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/Print2Pages.htm), these will not be
picked up by the TOC. If you have Word 2000 or above, the correct way to
handle this is to use the "2 pages per sheet" option in Page Setup (not the
one in the Print dialog). If you're trying to create a booklet, however, you
should use "Book fold" (or see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm).
