How do I include boilerplate graphics in a Word template?

Hey everyone.
I was asked to create a new template that has some boilerplate graphics and
footer text. If I create a brand new document (file > new) and ask iot to
base the doc on the template, then there isn't a problem. However, when I
apply the template to an existing document, the graphics and footers don't
appear. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You aren't doing anything wrong, that's how it works (by design). Attaching
a template does not bring over any text. Try Insert File into a new doc
instead.
