How do I import an old 2003 outlook file into my new 2003 outlook.

I am trying to export my pst files from a computer that has outlook 2000 then
inport them into my new computer with outlook 2003. I can export them from
my old computer and reimport them into that same computer just fine. However
when I try and inport them into my new computer it tells me that the file is
not a pst file. I have tried using the scanpst.exe utility and that does not
help.

Any ideas?

Thanks

This is a common occurance with Outlook 2003. While most windows and office
version are ok with going from an old version to a new, Outlook 2003 has been
a lot less forgiving in accepting old version files. The only thing I can
reccommend is getting the most recent SP upgrade and trying it again, but if
that doesn't work I don't know what else may work.

Use File, Open instead of Import. Set Outlook for Folder View and the old pst
file will be at the bottom of the folder list.

Absolutely no reason to use export/import. In fact, there's good reason NOT
to use them, since you can lose data that way.

Copy your OL 2000 PST (the original, not a copy) to the laptop, make sure
it's not read-only, and open in in Outlook with File>Open>Outlook Data File.
All done.
