How do I get RID OF the yellow reminder icon

How do I get RID OF the yellow reminder icon that's near the clock (that
constantly sends me annoying reminders to update Windows and install those
programs). Like I wrote it is annoying. Also I don't like installing a
program with a perfunctory, at best, explanation for what the update does.

Start Menu > Control Panel > Security Center > Automatic Updates > Turn
off Automatic Updates.

While in the Security Center, you can also choose "Change the way
Security Center alerts me" (it's one of the options along the left-hand
side)

Go to "Control Panel" double click "System" and
then select "Automatic Updates"
here check the option "Turn Off Automatic Updates" click
apply
....no annoying reminders any more :)....
This works under Windows Xp sp2.
