Update

There is a small, yellow icon, shaped like a shield with a black
exclamation mark on it. The icon is there, NOT at my asking, to announce
updates for WindowsXP. There does not appear to be a delete option even
though I already updated my computer. I don't mind a reminder, but as long
as it remains - and I cannot get rid of it - I get a message that I had
better update my computer or all hell will break lose. Short of following
its COMMANDMENT to update and then restart my computer, how would I get rid
of the update commandment icon?

Turn off automatic updates.
