How do I get a sound file to play during an entire slide show?

I have a song from a CD, I want this song to play during the entire slide
show. Currently I have the sound on the first slide, but the slides won't
transition and if I do it manually, the sound only plays on the first CD.
I'm using PowerPoint 2000 if that helps.

Bit tricky, but you can do it this way:

Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)
