When I go to view show and click the hyperlink, media player opens up in the
background and plays the video? How can I make media player open up on top
of the presentation so that the video will be seen non just heard?

Or if you need the Windows Media Player interface, try this:

Click View > Toolbars > Control Toolbox.
This will display the toolbar for Control Toolbox.
On the toolbar, click on the last icon which should be "More Controls".
Scroll right to the bottom and select Windows Media Player.

Now, insert the player at any of the slides.
To do so, you can either click on the slide, or click and drag to a
preferred size.
A properties screen should appear. If it doesn't, right click on the player,
select properties.

Under (Custom), click on the empty field which then displays a three dots
button. Click on the button. Now, you will be able to select the file name or
url.
