How do I get a blank document when I hit the Word icon?

Whenever I try to write a new document by hitting the W icon, I get a copy of
some obscure website. In order to start a new document, I have to erase
everything from this page before I can proceed. How do I get Word to give me
a BLANK document from the start, not one with something already pre-printed?
