I am unable to use CHKDSK on my computer now. FYI, primary HD 80 gig and
slave HD 200 gig, Windows XP Pro, Via P4PB ultra MB, DDR400 RAM 512K. I go
to administrative tools, select computer management, then disk management
and right click on my C drive and select properties and then select the
CHKDSK and tick the correct option. I get a window that states this disk is
in use by windows and the CHKDSK will occur when I reboot. I reboot and the
computer never does the CHKDSK. How can I force this to run? Thanks for
your assistance.

There are two ways to run CHKDSK. The way you said, {that's a long way
around, you only have to click on My Computer, then right click disk C and
Properties}, or, Start>Run, type in CHKDSK. This checks in a different
format that only takes a couple of minutes as opposed to about 45. I have
posed the question to MS-MVP's three times and they always say that both
ways do the same job. See if this other way works.

Try booting with the XP CD, then enter the Repair Console (first "Repair"
option). Then enter the command "chkdsk /f" at the command prompt.
