How do I export Windows Live email folders to Thunderbird?

I've used Windows Live Mail for a while not and decided I want to go
to Thunderbird.
I can find no way to import my large archive of mails to Thunderbird.

Anyone got any suggestions?

You'll get answers for Windows Live Mail faster in newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

If you can find a newsgroup for Thunderbird (probably not on the
Microsoft Communities server), it may also be useful to ask there.

Good luck. I understand that there is an add-on for Thunderbird
that facilitates import and export. You will have to ask in a
Thunderbird support forum.
