How do I enable standby?

I have just reinstalled windows xp pro on a dell
precision 530 workstation with the included windows
reinstall disk, and now the standby option is greyed out
in the shutdown menu. And the standby tab is missing fron
power options in the control panel. Please help, I use
standby alot and it was working very well fore me before.

Tory,
Check for updated drivers for your video card. Most likely your video card
is not letting the computer enter the Stand-by mode.

There are few things you can check it out.

i) Enable the setting from BIOS.

ii) To check on the Power Management / Options
Properties's Power Scheme.

Once u have enable the standby, try not to enable the HDD
off.
Another thing, not use Hibernate at the same time as well.
Because sometime u will get difficulty to resume.
