How do I download a picture into my files so I can put on a slide

i need to know how to do this because we have to use a scanned picture or one
from a digital camera. can i use a picture from the internet and if yes how
do i go about doing it. please help.

Generally you can rightclick a picture in the browser and choose the Save Image
(or similarly worded option) from the popup menu.

Note where you saved it, then in PPT choose Insert, Picture, From File and
browse to your picture to insert it on the slide.

Please keep in mind that unless the owner of the picture SPECIFICALLY grants
rights to use the image, you may be on thin legal ice by using it. Just because
it's on the net doesn't mean that the owner has granted everybody rights to the
image.

For a class/academic project, use of the images may fall under what's called
"Fair use" so you probably don't have to worry too much about this. Publishing
the result as your own work, selling it or doing it for a client ... all would
be utter no=no's, w/o permission.
