Change a picture in a Slide

Using Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, how can I replace a current picture
in a slide by another one and have the format and the animation of the
original picture inherited to the new picture?

I know that this can be done easily in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
under Format tab and select "Change Picture". But I'm using version 2003.
Please advise.

Thanks

Hi

Try this on a copy of the presentation (a little convoluted but it should
work):
1. Save the presentation as a web page (htm, html). This will create a
folder of assets
2. In the folder find the picture you want to change and take a note of its
name then delete it
3. Add the replacement picture to the folder and change its name to that of
the original picture
4. From PowerPoint, open the .html file and save as a ppt

Let us know how you get on.

Hi,

Instead of inserting a picture, you can create an object, ie: a rectangle,
edit it to the size you want (should be proportional to the picture you want
to use) and edit "fill color/fill effects/picture/select picture", choose
the picture
you want, you'll have the object mapped with it.

Attribute the effects you want to the object. Duplicate it, repeat the same
procedures to change the picture, how many times you want.

Hope I helped

Thanks Lucy.... it works.

I have another question. I made ppt file in 2007 version. The file size is 9
MB. I wanted to email it to many people who has only 2003 version. When I
save the file as 97-2003 format, the file size expands to 28 MB which makes
it impossible to email.

Do you have a solution on how to save the file in 2003 format and keeps it
below 10 MB so it can be emailed, know that I have already compressed all
pictures to the minimum size (96 ppi)

Thanks

People with 2003 can view 2007 presentations if they have the compatibility
pack installed:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en

Unfortunately, as you have seen saving as '03 format does explode file size
so I would advise sending the 07 file and a link to the compat. download.
Alternatively you could look at minimising/compression software such as the
ones here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/results.aspx?qu=compress&av=PMP000
(I have no experience using compression software so am unable to advise on
what is the best solution).

Thanks Steve...

PDF didn't help because the file has important animation and .wav inserted
file which are both lost in saving as PDF. However, I think you arose the
right diagnosis, because I really used formats that are not supported by
prior versions.

If I changed these formats, it might reduce the file size a bit, but I don't
think it will reduce it 3 and half times. The 97-2003 file size now is 35.1
MB while the the 2007 file is only 8.69 MB.

Do you have another ideas.

Appreciate your help
Bob
