how do i do a multiple category sort, ie, all brown books, not on.

i have over 700 contacts in outlook and need to sort using more than one
category; but when i add multiple categories i, of course, get all that fit
into those categories, not just the ones with "all" selected. for example, i
need to find all contacts that receive a newsletter that are associated with
john. if i sort on john, i don't get the newsletter necessarily and if i add
newsletter, i then get every contact that has newsletter attached to it,
which could be associated with a different person. i know outlook used to
have an "or" function, is there anyway to get around this short of exporting
the data and manipulating on another platform?
thanks

Use a filter, not grouping and filter for Categories = John and Newsletter.
