I prefer to write word documents for papers and books using the

old-fashioned Eq editor (field code)...

However, when I send a manuscript to a publisher, the publisher

has to "re-set" all the equations because I did not use the

Equation Editor subprogram of Word.

Does anybody know a good, fast way of converting Eq field

equations to Equation Editor equations at the last moment?

No, I don't know of a way to do that. However, if your publisher

will accept Word docs with MathType equations (MathType is the

full-featured version of Equation Editor), there's a solution.

When you install MathType, it installs a toolbar and a menu into

Word. One of the items on the MathType menu in Word is an item to

"Convert Equations". There are several options on formats to

convert from and convert to, but one of the combinations is to

convert Word field code equations to MathType equations. It will

convert all the equations in the document or if you choose, all

the equations within any text you had selected.
