Old eq field

I use Word2007 and I got a document with extension doc (Word2003?) that has
EQ field codes for inline equations.
Unfortunately Word2007 marks these EQ fields (that I can see that are of
type, e.g., {eq \f(0.93,(28)*2)} ) as "Error!".

Yet, I can see correctly equations prepared by the eqution editor.

What can I do in order to be be able to see those inline equations prepared
with the EQ field code?

I copied your EQ field into Word 2007 { eq \f(0.93,(28)*2) } from the
message
replaced the curly brackets with field brackets CTRL+F9 and updated the
field. The equation reproduces just fine.
I saved as Word 97-2003 and the equation continues to wotk.
I create a Word 2003 document and inserted the same field. It works as
expected. I saved the document and opened it in Word 2007. It still works.
There is nothing wrong with this field nor is Word 2007 unable to handle it.

Graham,

Many thanks for your answer! I reproduced (in Word2007) each of your steps
but I still get an Error! instead of the correct equation!

I did try it also in a different computer with Word2003 and the result was
similar - an Error! message instead of the correct result!

No idea that is wrong!

That field code works perfectly for me in Word 2007; as far as I'm aware,
nothing has changed in that version with respect to field evaluation.

Try copying just the field code, excluding the braces; pasting it as plain text
elsewhere, either in the same document or in another one; and while it's all
selected, press Ctrl+F9 to place new braces around it and F9 to update it.

I noticed that if (in Word 2007) I do Insert - Quick Parts - Field - Field
Name - Eq
I have access only to the equation editor - not, as in the other types of
fields , to the boxes for editing the field.

This is certainly my problem! The question now is how can I can I have
access to the normal options of the "Eq" field? Is there an option somewhere
in Word to do this?

Thanks

Depending on your regional settings (look in Control Panel), you may have to
use a semi-colon instead of a comma as the list separator in the field code.

Click the Field Codes button; then you can type in the commands manually.
Use the Options button to get information on field-specific switches.

Jay & Stefan,

Many thnks for your inputs.

Stefan: It is indeed a problem with regional settings!! Changing the comma
by the semi-colon did the trick.

Now it is OK.

I am grateful to all those who helped to find this solution!
