How do i convert an access 2003 database to use in access 2000

I'm taking a Database class at school.In class we use Access 2003,at home I
have 2000.The database files that we are t ouse that are provided online from
the publisher will not open in 2000.Says they are in an unrecognized
format.I've tried t oconvert these databases and get same message.Am i going
to have to shell out $200 for Office 2003 or is there something else I can
do?

Hi ceking60,

Any version of Access (of any software for that matter) generally can not
open a newer format of its data.
So if your database from school is in A2003 format, you won't be able to use
your A2000 to open it or to convert it. You will have to use A2003 and do
the following:
Tools>>Database Utilities>>Convert
This will convert back to A2000 or even older (A97).

Your school should have a copy of Office 2003 for less than $200. Also, if
you get financial aid and this is for a class, the financial aid will pick it
up.
