how do i convert a file in word 2002 to excel 2002? or can i?

hi,
i currently have a couple of word documents that i would like to convert to
excel, is this possible? i am currently running Word 2002 and Excel 2002.
please help!

The two programs serve different purposes, but you can copy and paste
information between them. There is however no coverter available for
converting a file prepared in one, directly into the other.

What type of document is it that you want to "convert"?

addresses, phone number, fax number, email addresses that i would like to put
into an excel format. other then re-typing it all, can you suggest
something?

their corresponding address, phone number, fax number, email address, 3.
contact names (can have up to 8 contacts), 4. name of their department.
