Uninstall Word 2002 to install Word 2007?

I currently have Word 2002 installed on my computer and just bought Microsoft
Office Home and Student 2007, mainly to get Excel. What's going to happen to
my Word 2002 when I insert the disk to install Office Home and Student? I
don't understand if 2002 and 2007 will both be on my computer, or if 2007
will wipe out 2002. I don't want to lose 2002. Should I uninstall 2002
before I insert the new disk? I'm thinking maybe I should, and then if I
find out that I don't like 2007 and want 2002 back on, can I uninstall Word
2007 (without uninstalling Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) and put my 2002
back on? I mean, will those 4 be installed separately or as a "unit"? I
just don't know what to expect when I insert this new disk.

Second question - will my docs created in Word 2002 be compatible with Word
2007 program?

Go to Custom Install and install only Excel?

You can open Word2002 docs in Word2007. You can then save them either
in the old format or in the new format.

The setup routine gives you the option of retaining Office 2002 or replacing
it.
As grammatim suggest you can install only Excel if that's what you want, or
you can install all of it.
If you plan on keeping both versions, at least for a while, you may find
http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm helpful in managing the two.
Your old docs will be compatible with 2007 and your new ones will be
compatible with 2002 if you save them as Word 97-2003 format or install also
the compatibility pack.

First time poster. I inadvertently installed the 2007 H&S version, but
somehow missed telling it to replace 2003, so it added it. So now I am
apparently running 2 versions and can't figure out how to change this. I
would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I installed H & S 2007 but somehow missed telling it to replace my 2003
version. So now I am running two versions but don't want to be. How can I
fix this? Thanks.

Unless you're very quick getting up to speed with Word 2007, you might be
grateful to still have Word 2003 available.
