Upon opening Outlook 2000 I began getting a box titled Personal Folders with
the text: This information service has not been configured. Select and
existing file to configure or type the name of a new file to create. I just
installed Outlook 2003 and get the same box. My Palm update just triggered
the box as well. What can I do?

You need to configure Outlook first with a location to store its data
(Personal Folder file). Check out the Mail applet in the Control Panel and
make sure you setup a data file for Outlook

Thanks for responding. I went to mail in the control panel and there is a
file there titled personal settings. I tried to open the data file and got
this response: Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what
program created it. I'm getting into real unfamiliar territory here.

What was the extension of the data file you chose? It should have been PST.

The file was already there and it is: C:\Documents and
Settings\Owner\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst.

It it literally in a folder path containing the word "Owner" or did you
substitute the word "Owner" for what is really there? If the former, is
your Windows username "Owner"?
