lost personal file folder

this is in outlook2000, i had my outlook open earlier today and i wasn't
having any issues with it. i tried opening it later in the day and i got the
message that there was no personal file folder associated with the file. it
gave me two options, one was to create a new personal file and one was to
open an existing personal file. in the existing personal files i had the
optinon of "archive" and "outlook". if i select archive i get nothing in my
in or out box. if i select "outlook" i get an error message stating
"properties for this information service must be defined prior to use" after
i click OK i get another error message telling me to use my inbox repair
tool. i don't beleive i can use the inbox repair tool in 2000, but i may be
mistaken. can you please shed some light on how i can get this straightened
out.

Yes you can use the inbox repair tool in Outlook 2000. I would recommend
running that first, then trying to open Outlook again. You may want to check
the size of your outlook.pst file. There is a maximum size of 2 GB for it but
it can corrupt when it's smaller than that.
