How do I combine Contacts and Global Address List in Outlook?

In the Address Book in Outlook, there is a dropdown on the top right called
Show Names from the: and then there are several drop down choices. Only
two of them have contacts and they are Contacts and Global Address List. How
do I combine them so whenever I start to type a name into my Outlook email
messages it will find it and finish it?
Thanks

there is no need to combine them "so whenever I start to type a name into my
Outlook email
messages it will find it and finish it"

You are confusing autocompletion and the check names function. Many people
do.

The autocompletion of names in the To... field (when it completes after just
a few characters, has nothing to do with the Global Address List or the
Contacts. It's a cache of recently used names. If you send an email to
(e-mail address removed), next time you type "supe" that address will
appear.

Outlook checks all 3 places, the cache of recently used names, the Contacts
and the GAL.

Russ Valentine, MVP has posted many times about this - do a search and read
through some more stuff from him.
