How do I change the registry policy settings for Power Point

Missy

When I try to open some old power points, I get the following message "You
are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry policy
settings". I can find no help from MS help.

I am also having this problem.

I am running Office Professional 2003

The file I am trying to open was created in January of 1997.

I recieved the following error:

"You are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry
policy setting."

I checked the MS Knowledge Base:

MS Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933669/

I validated that the version of Powerpoint that I have is up to date:

Version: 11.0.8307

I have attempted modifying the registry, however my registry paths do not
agree with what is posted on the MS website.

MS Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922847/en-us

Method 2: Disable the restriction on opening documents of certain types in
PowerPoint 2003

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Security\FileOpenBlock

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Security\FileOpenBlock

My Registry Paths Read:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\

There is no \Security\FileOpenBlock portion of the path available. All I
see are the following Folders:

First Run
Options
Recent File List
Tips
UserInfo
================================================

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\

There is no \Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Security\FileOpenBlock portion of the
path available. All I see is the following Folder:

SystemCertificates

I truly would appreciate any assistance you could provide.
