How do I animate an object (custom path) in PowerPoint?

I am trying to make a tiger walk across a slide. I remeber doing this in the
earlier PowerPoint versions. Can it still be done, and if so, how?
 
You certainly can - assuming you are using PowerPoint 2002 or 2003, you'll
have even more control using Motion Paths.

What is your tiger like? Is it an animated GIF, a still picture or a vector
image.
