160GB HD but the PC came with only 16GB allocated to the
C:. D: has all the rest and I want to move 10GB to my C:
drive. How do I do this? Seems simple but I can't seem
to figure it out! Thanks Gregg

You will need a 3rd party partitioning program such as Partition Magic to do
this. It cannot be done non-destructively with the tools built into XP.

Partition Magic 8 will do it, the only way to do it without
a 3rd party program is to reinstall XP and format/partition
the disk. PM will do it directly.

Gregg, if you don't care much about what data you have in your machine at
the moment, and you prefer to start from scratch, it is simple. After
putting the WinXP CD in the tray and clicking any key to start the OS
installation setting up process, you will be asked to select a series of
options. The idea is, first, to delete the entire C partition, then the
entire D partition. When these two steps are done correctly, you will be
given the whole disk space as "Unoccupied Space", 160GB of it. Out of this
space, you allocate (i.e. you are asked to choose a value) part or all of it
to create a new partition. In your case, you would choose 26000MB. At the
next stage, you are given notice that you have one partition of 26GB and an
unoccupied space of 134GB. So you allocate the whole of this unoccupied
space to another partition. Then a confirmation appears saying that now you
have 2 partitions, one of 26GB and another, 134GB. The next stage is
formatting; you choose the smaller one to format into the NTFS. That is it.
The rest of loading the system files into the machine is straight forward.
After the installation is complete, go to Disk Management (Start>Rt. click
My Computer>Management) to format the larger partition. Hope this helps a
little.
