How do I access contents of .pst file backed up to a cd-rom?

I saved some some emails to a new .pst file, then wrote this to a cd-rom for
permanent storage. However when I try to access the contents of the .pst
file from the cd-rom I get error message 'must define properties prior to
accessing' then 'you don't have permissions required to access this file'.

As far as I can tell from menus, help etc... I'm doing what I should, but I
can't access the contents of the .pst file from the cd-rom.

Anyone know the answer to this?

Outlook needs write access to .PST files, so it can't access them directly
from CD. Copy your .PST to your hard drive and remove the read-only
attribute, then open it in Outlook using File | Open | Outlook Data File
(that's what the command is in Outlook 2002 and 2003, anyway -- you didn't
give your version).
