Hi,

How can i use sysprep to move a harddrive to another computer? I want to
reinstall windows on my laptop but the cdrom and floppy drives are broken.
I have an adapter to connect the laptops harddrive to my PC. can i install
windows xp onto that harddrive and then use sysprep, and then move that
harddrive back to my laptop to finish the install?

No, that procedure will not work. You need to replace your
non-working CD drive so that you can reinstall Windows XP
using the Windows XP CD.

You make wish to visit eBay and search for a CD Drive replacement.
I once purchased a used IBM ThinkPad keyboard for $24 which IBM
wanted $300 for.

Do the installation up to the point where it wants to reboot for the first
time, then move the drive to the laptop. At that point, it's set to boot
from the hard drive, but it hasn't started installing hardware yet, so it
should boot from the laptop just fine, and continue the install.

Also, you may want to have the drive set up so that you have a separate
partition where you have setup files, drivers, etc. copied. It will make the
installation a lot easier.
