sysprep

I have a new HP d325 running Windows XP Pro that I want to make an
Ghost image of. The computer will not boot from my floppy which I
need to for Ghost after using sysprep. Instead, the computer starts
window start wizard.

Steps for failure

1. Run sysprep.exe from MS to create a mini start and reseal.
2. Computer shuts down
3. Ghost boot disk is inserted into floppy
4. Computer is powered on
5. Floppy drive is ignored and unit boots from harddrive and begins
mini setup
for windows

If I restart any other time other than using sysprep, I am able to
boot from
floppy. I have disconnected the harddrive after step 2 from above and
then
continued with steps. Configuration change screen appears and F1 is
selected.
Unit will then boot from floppy but when harddrive is reconnected, it
is not
recognized.

My boot settings are

1. CD
2. Floppy
3. Harddrive

This appears to be a BIOS setting. Any suggestions?

that simply makes no sense, there is no way the contents of the harddrive
can somehow override your BIOS setting and force the machine to ignore the
BIOS boot order. theres something wrong with your BIOS settings or your
floppy isnt bootable or you have a CD in the drive or something.

I am experiencing the same exact phenomena after ghosting an XP image.
can't boot from floppy, and I can't boot from CD. At first I jus
thought it was a CD-ROM drive problem because I kept being told t
insert a disk into the drive, but after a while I realized that
couldn't use the drive at all. It would show up as working properly an
the os would even rediscover and reinstall the drivers if I removed i
from my devices.

I have tried uninstalling ghost and resetting the BIOS to defaults. S
far nada. I guess I try to image it with an older 98 image and see wha
happens then. I can't find anything in the BIOS settings to explain it
It is as though something just disabled the external drives but keep
it looking as they are functioning. (Neat trick!
