How can I restore a deleted mail folder?

G

Guest

I have just accidentally deleted one of my mail folders and am worried that
it may be a mistake that I cannot rectify. Is there any way of restoring the
folder?
Thanks.

Are you using an Exchange Server? If so, you can click on DELETE ITEMS, then
on TOOLS - RECOVER DELETED ITEMS.

Usually, Exchange servers are setup to save the last 10 days of deleted
items - they can be recovered sometimes.

If you aren't using an Exchange Server, and you've already emptied your
deleted items folder, I think you're toast.

look in the Deleted Items folder. Find it. Drag it back to where you want
it eg to the Inbox will make it a sub-folder of the Inbox.

Hello I am desperate for some help,
I have just upgraded Microsoft Office to the 2007 version, and when I opened
outlook found that all my inbox had been entirely wiped and that several
folders and sent messages were also wiped. I cannot work out how and if I can
retrieve them. Please help, Thanks.

Chances are that when you installed OL 2007, the process crreated a new mail
profile and PST. Assuming you're using a PST now and not an Exchange
mailbox (you should always state your data store), click File>Open>Outlook
Data File and see if more than one appears. If so, select one other that
the one you're using and click OK. Examine its folders. Do they contain
the missing data?

Hi, thanks for your help. I am not sure what PST or an exchange mailbox is,
but I looked in the outlook data file and there was nothing there. Is there
anything else I could try? I am in a bit of a panic about the missing data.

I can only find "DELETED ITEMS" (not DELETE ITEMS) like you suggested, and I
cannot find any option under TOOLS that says "RECOVER DELETED ITEMS"...some
one suggested just going to the Deleted Items and drag them back, but since
it was a folder, it is not in there. Does anyone know where where deleted
folders go?

Thanks for your help!!!

Sorry for responding to an old post...I am new at this and it is was the
close to my problem as I could find...

Anyway, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU! I can't believe I didn't see that
"+" sign?!?!?! One of my employees came to me with this and said she had
search all morning for her deleted file! I just assumed she tried all of the
basic things and went strainght to thinking this was probably something far
more complicated! Anyway, we are back on track! Thanks again! We
appreciated the help and yes, we are both slightly blonde when if comes to
most computer issues :)

The way to go is to START YOUR OWN thread, rather than find something
close.

Deleted folders do, indeed, go to Deleted Items. If you delete a folder it
becomes a subfolder of Deleted Items and Deleted Items will acquire a plus
sign to its left in the Navigation Pane Folder List. You can click that
plus sign and then drag the folder back to where you want it. Of course, if
you empty the Deleted Items folder before doing this, it's gone.

The Recover Deleted Items feature is available only if you use an Exchange
account. You won't have it for a POP or IMAP account.

If you haven't emptied your Deleted Items folder yet, click the plus sign to
its left in the Folder List view so you can see the deleted folder and then
drag the folder back to where it belongs.
