Here's what caused this (it's happened to me a number of times)
1. You had/have a user named Bill
2. You delete user Bill but the C:\Documents and Settings\Bill folder did
not remove
3. You tried to create Bill again, this time it created a new user Bill
based on your name, computer name, and index ... is your computer name
HS3-MEDIA?
Did something like that happen?
Who do you now login as? Bill?
You need to determine what Profiles folder is used when you login as Bill.
1. Login
2. Goto C:\Documents and Settings
3. Is there a Bill folder and a Bill.HS3-MEDIA.000 folder?
4. Which folder has all the information for your login? Check the date on
the ntuser.dat file in each folder.
5. If there is no Bill Folder, then you are using the Bill.HS3-MEDIA.000
folder
Whichever one is not being modified, that is the a folder not being used.
You need to reboot as the origianl Windows XP Administrator account (which
is kept hidden):
1. Reboot
2. At Welcome screen, type CTRL+ALT+DEL+DEL (keystrokes)
3. Enter Administrator in the Login screen prompt
4. Enter password (or if never given - click OK), Click OK
Now you logged in as Windows XP Administrator account, and you should be
able to rename the folder and modify the Registry to reflect the new folder
name (if needed).
If you get the System Folder error, you need to run a command window and
enter attrib -s on the folder name (drops the system bit).
