How can I reconnect my Contacts to use as email addresses?

After reconnecting outlook to my original outlook.pst file everything else in
Outlook 2002 is fully functional but I can't access my Contacts to use as
email addresses. I am using XP Professional on a PC.
 
State how you configured the Outlook Address Book Service. State how you
"reconnected" Outlook to your data file and why you needed to do so in the
first place.
