How can I get XP Home to save a pic in anything besides a 'bitmap'

Charles...

How can I get XP Home to save a picture in any other format besides a
'bitmap'...

when I am browsing, I often find pictures or animated gifs that I wish to
save in their original format... the problem is that if I right mouse-button
click on any, I only have an option to save in the 'bmp' format regardless
that I may have found a jpg, gif whatever... no other options are
available... none of my other pc's has this problem, I can always pick a
format...

the pictures do stay in the original format if I email it to myself via
right clicking, like I have resorted to on occassion just as a workaround to
collar a anim-gif...

is there a setting that needs a twiddle by any chance...?

TIA...

Your temporary cache is full, in Internet Explorer, tools, Internet options, delete
files.

Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files. Right-click your IE icon on the
desktop | Properties | General | Delete files... OK.

Nice one... S.Sengupta...

I did try deleting all temp internet files, but no change at all...

I then followed your first info link
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810978&Produc which
then led me on to removing a damaged file from the Downloaded Program
Files... still didnt work...

then I tried the last suggestion, moving the 'Temporary Internet Files'
folder...

brill... that worked a treat, I can now save in jpegs again...

Thanks again for your info...

Start>Run then type cleanmgr.exe>ok

The disk cleanup utility will now startup. Make sure to cleanup
your Temporary Internet Files.
