How can I get out of safe mode!?

I was in Windows XP Pro, and I opened up msconfig and went to the boot tab
and checked the box by /SAFEBOOT so the coimputer would boot into safe mode
so i could run a virus scan and such. Well... the computer decided it wasn't
going to start back up, it gave me a fatal system error no matter how i tried
to start it (Normal, safe mode, last know good config, etc). So Iget out my
Windows XP cd and put it in and begin to do anotehr install. It detects my
previous install and asks if I want to try to repair it, which I attempt to
do. NOW is where the probnlem comes in. Everything Windows starts, it starts
in safe mode before of the msconfig box being checked. Every time Windows
starts setup tries to do something, but can't do it in safe mode so it gives
me a dialog box saying it's going to restart the computer. I hit OK and the
same thing happens. Starts in safe mode... tries to do some setup thing...
gives me dialog box... restarts.

Any ideas how I can get out of this loop without having to do a clean
install? I can do a claen install... just would rather figure this out than
give up and start over.

Thanks

Don

Or, if someone could just tell me how to "reset" the setup/repair I tried to
do so it stops trying to do stuff and will just let me get into safe mode...
that would work too

Thanks!

Start the comouter in safe mode.Do msconfig and put the check mark in front
of selective startup and uncheck every entry from general screen.Restart the
computer and see that u are able to boot the computer in normal mode or
not.If yes than start checking entries one by one and see what is causing the
problem.
