how can I connect my home stereo to my computer?

Could you please offer some suggestions to how I go about
connecting my home stereo to my computer with out messing
up other parts of this system?

Take your "Line Out" from your sound card and use a 1/8"
mini stereo to RCA cable (Radio Shack) and connect that
cable to any Aux input on you stereo. Any input on your
stereo except "phono" input will work.

Another option is to use a 1/8" stereo plug splitter, and
plug both your computer speakers and the 1/8" stereo--

rca cable into that, enables you to use computer volume

control (multimedia keyboards) to control stereo volume
as well.
