For some reason, the font of the header and footers of my printout is set to
16 pts on IE6, and the consequence is that there is never enough room to
display the full title and page number on the paper...

Does someone know hoe i may set the font to 10 pts?

Thanks

1. You can change the code. Right click on the web page.
Left click "view source"

OR

2. Select the text you want to print. Copy it. Paste it
to Microsoft Word, or some other fancy word processor.
Adjust the font size.

Thanks Jo for your quick reply, but I am afraid I was unclear.

The header and footer are the ones that come only when you print - they are
not part of the body of the printout. Therefore I cannot edit them before
being printed.

I know how to change the contents of the header and footer (File / Page
Setup): there is no font dropdown in there.

I need to find out where I can change the font type and size used by IE when
assembling header, body, and footer and sending everything to the printer.

I hope it's not the default font setup on the printer itself...

Thanks. Stefano

Unfortunately you cannot change the default.

One other alternative is to print in landscape mode (printer properties)

You have used the keyword you need to find all previous answers
on this topic using Google Groups. E.g. try searching with:
insubject:footers group:microsoft.*.ie6.browser

FWIW here is a repost of my previous answer:

Not unless you are a programmer...

There may be a JavaScript solution

http://developer.irt.org/script/1437.htm

(Link originally provided by someone called
Simon in March 2002 in ie6.browser.)

I can remember seeing another commercial site mentioned
as having a solution for this issue but don't have the time
right now to search for that reference. As I recall it was not
a thread that I participated in.

This is one that I keep reminding Alan of. <eg>

Good luck
