How are Desktop Icons Saved

Just wondering how desktop icons are saved with XP. My icons load slowly so
perhaps a file is corrupted. Is there a way to re-create this file?

Look for Microsoft's TweakUI utility. It has a function for rebuilding the
desktop icons..

In an Icon cache file; but this is rebuilt on the first display of the
Desktop after boot. If you have mostly shortcuts there that refer to
files scattered around (and are using icons contained in those files)
then it takes time to go find each and extract the icon
