Hotmail & MSN E-mail Accounts

Larry E. Brenton

I have e-mail accounts at both MSN.com and Hotmail.com that I can no
longer access using Outlook 2002 sp3 on a XPsp2 operating system. This
problem started many months ago and I'm finally feed up and looking
for some answers.

I continue to get requests to verify my usernames and passwords.
Inputting these items again does not help to get even one download.

Using an old MS Explorer 7.02 browser and the same usernames and
passwords, I am able to retrieve the e-mail. There are problems with
this browser that prevent me from retrieving certain links within the
e-mails. In times past, Outlook 2002 had no problem with these links.

Is there any hope of getting my e-mail from these accounts using
Outlook 2002? If so, what do I have to do?

If not, will the latest Outlook allow me to retrieve my e-mail from
these accounts and access the links?

Do you get any error messages? Are you using a paid Hotmail/MSN Premium
account?

Both accounts return an error code of 0x800ccc32.
Both accounts are the original "Free Accounts".

MSN is disabling access to free accounts using OE and Outlook.

I found nothing at these support locations that allowed my Outlook to
access the e-mail accounts. I even tried to set up accounts as POP3,
even though they have always been HTTP accounts in the past.

I suppose the other responder has the correct answer. MS is shutting
down the access to free e-mail using Outlook.
