Hi,

My ex downloaded a messenger program from Hotmail (MSN Messenger?).
If not only failed to work but damaged her networking. She must run the
repair facility in order to use the internet whenever she boots.

She is running XP w D-Link wireless card.

Pardon this is a bit vague but it is second-hand.

What happened and how do I fix it?

Thanks,
Gary

Hi, I've not actually come across this, however, have you tried restoring to
point before the messenger program was installed?

Hotmail is owned and operated by Microsoft. I have yet to see a true MSN
Messager installer "break" XP.

You could try to fix the networking by downloading, and running,
Winsockxpfix.exe. This should restore the TCP/IP protocol stack to XP
defaults.
