MSN Messenger / Windows Messenger error msg

Hello,

My question is related to MSN Messenger 6.1 as well as
Windows Messenger 5.0. For some reason, whenever I try
to install either program (where the installer runs
smoothly), and run it afterwards...I get an error message
pop up that says: "The application has failed to start
because the application configuration is incorrect.
Reinstalling the application may fix this problem" --
I've tried re-installing OVER the existing copy, then
tried uninstalling and installing a fresh copy. Nothing
worked. I still keep getting this error message and I am
not sure why. Can anybody help me please?

Hi,

Try uninstalling any previous version of Messenger and then install the
latest version.

I already did that. Doesn't cure the problem.
