Hotmail email get lost or delayed

I'm having a very vexing problem with Hotmail: although I can receive
messages properly, messages sent are either lost or just delayed by
many days (a week, more, less). Here are some interesting facts:

- My mailbox is almost empty (5% usage), so it's not a matter of
usage.
- Between my wife and I we have 3 accounts (one is brand new) and the
symptoms are the same on all 3, so it's nothing account specific.
- It happens both at home and at work, so it's not computer specific.
OS is 2000 with all updates up to date, BTW.
- It doesn't happen to my colleague though, so it's not something that
affects all users indiscriminately.
- It doesn't happen when sending to a Hotmail address, but it happened
with all other domains I tried.
- I though I might have been black listed, if someone is using my
alias to spam, but then I would get a notification saying that my
email has been rejected as spam, instead it actually goes through,
just a few days later.

Any ideas on what the problem might be ?

Thanks

Same problem 2.5 weeks and counting. No resolution yet
but will post.

It may be worth noting however... I have experienced *0* problems of any
kind with Hotmail in recent memory. The only thing that I can think of
to explain this is my computer setup, which contains *NO* MSN software
of any kind.

You're not alone. I have been experiencing the same problems that you
described. There is definately a problem with Hotmail that has been going on
for about 3 weeks now.

Yes...nothing at this end..have not experienced (it)with any mail client
remote or online..OE, OL, and web interface all work fine via a MSn dialup
for 2 hotmail, 2 legacy pop3, and 1 http MSn.com account.

I have one MSN POP acct. and two Hotmail accts. Access to all 3 via
Outlook XP, OEx, and web interface is flawless. Although not a problem,
I did notice some 3rd party partner cookies that insisted on being
allowed for a short period of time a few weeks ago. Also...sometimes
I've notice that some MS sites are routing to and/or thru akamai
servers. I'd suggest that they look at their firewall logs for suspect
entries (any entry pointing to 127.0.0.1 during Hotmail login) and
remove the problem entries and all akamai references from their hosts
file. That's all that comes to mind....

Ask somebody at MSN Hotmail. Nobody posting and lurking here is an MSN
Hotmail representative; that I know of, anyway.

I eventually contacted HM about this problem. Well, I wrote them
whatever was in my original post (ie: problem is in *sending*) and
this is what they replied:

Dear Member,

<From Hotmail>
Thank you for contacting MSN Hotmail Technical Support.

I am sorry to know that you are experiencing delay in receiving
e-mails into your Hotmail account. I understand how important it is
for you to communicate through e-mail messages. I apologize for any
inconvenience this has caused you.

Currently MSN Hotmail is experiencing an unusually large volume of
incoming mail and this is causing some customers to experience
unacceptable delays in receiving email. Our Technical Team is informed
of the issue and is working deliberately to fix the issue as soon as
possible. Hotmail is continually looking for ways to improve our
service. We strive to make positive changes to our product, based on
feedback we receive from our customers.

I once again apologize for the inconvenience. We thank you for
patience and understanding. For any further information about Hotmail,
please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
Revathi
MSN Hotmail Technical Support Representative

So not only they are not aware of my send issue... now I also have to
watch out for a receive problem (like some of you have pointed out)

Nice.
