Running Win2000 Professional - have a hard-drive in a caddy to which I want to back up. Can it be hot-swapped or do I have to shut down each time I wish to remove or replace it ? Thanks.

Unless the hardware is specifically noted to be hot
swappable I would play it safe and shut the system down.
else you could lose lots of data and the hd itself
