Hopeless Outlook 2007 crash?

My Outlook 2007 crashed. When attempting to open, I get the message, "Cannot
start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of
folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file C:\Documents
and Settings...(my local file). Quit Outlook and all mail-enabled
applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose
and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair
tool, see Help."

I ran scanpst.exe and it reported that there are no errors. I also ran the
Office repair tool, but I still get this error and Outlook will not open.

I upgraded this installation from Office 2003 probably a year ago. I am
running XP Home, patched to the hilt and no problems with sufficient memory
or disk space. It has run fine up to now.

Can someone tell me how to reinstall only Outlook from the Office Suite, or
even better, how to revert to Outlook 2003 while still running Office 2007?

Many thanks!

Okay, so I figured out how to uninstall Outlook 2007 and reinstall Outlook
2003. All looked cheerful and rosy until I tried to open Outlook 2003. Here
was the message: "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the
Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not
available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists."

I would really appreciate a clue if anyone can provide one.

Thanks!

Uninstalling and reinstalling either the same or a different version of
Outlook will never address the problem you describe because it's a mail
profile problem. The mail profile is kept in the registry and isn't
affected by installation or uninstallation.

I would really appreciate a clue if anyone can provide one.

Create a new mail profile or fix the existing one:
