Homepage hijacked

It looks like my Internet Explorer (IE6) home page has been hijacked by a
website.

Even thought I delete all the cookies, delete files and Clear History and
then reset to my home page, when I open up it again it defaults to the
website that hijacked my home page!

How do I stop this please?

TIA

your system most likely have SPYWARE etc in it... Spyware junks usually keep
on changing homepage settings etc.

Here's 5 steps that EVERY computer owner should do (or have for last two
steps) if they want to make sure their system is not infested with spyware,
trojans and viruses...

1. first download AdAware from www.lavasoft.de install it, update it, RUN
it...

2. second, download spybot seek & destroy from http://security.kolla.de
install it, update it, and RUN it...

--- sofar you should have spyware free system ---

3. third, download spywareblaster
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html install it, "update" it
and RUN it...

--- after this you should have system that's protected from some spyware
stuff, not ALL though ---

4. get yourself virus killer if you do not have... www.grisoft.com has free
virus killer it you bother dig up more their site to download free version,
install, update and run it...

--- after this your system should be protected from most viruses ---

5. get yourself FIREWALL if you do not have it... Usually free firewall like
ZoneAlarm (www.zonelabs.com) will do...

--- and after this step, you should beable to see when something in your
system tries to connect outside from your system etc ---

1st and 2nd steps are both good programs, but I never trust only one of them
myself because i am bit too paranoid with my network security. So i run
both.. both are good, but nothing is perfect so better be sure...

spywareblaster "protects" your system from spyware etc. so it's also good
idea to run it...

virus killer and firewall are usually VERY important part, If you have winXP
you might have it's inbuilt firewall on, that helps some, but it does not
show outbound connections that are sometimes very good to "notice"

and remember to UPDATE/RUN those programs now and then just to stay safe
side on things...

I hope this help you...

Just the tip of the iceberge. Get NoAdHosts,BHODemon,
HijackThis and ID-Blaster Plus. Then you are getting real
close to being safe. In SpyBot Search and Destroy make
sure you activate both options in the "Immunize" section.
Have fun.

We had the same problem but can't remember how we fixed
it other than we went to our original home page and asked
them. Sorry we were not much help but maybe your homepage
will help.

yes, it IS only tip of iceberg, but problem is some "spyware remover" tools
are MADE by same companies that INSTALL/make those spyware components (good
example is spyban named software) so if person does not know about these
things too much, better not try run everything. There are actually couple of
"spyware" remover stufs that keep on installing spyware in system. Some are
just plain simply copies of spybot etc, even using their databases or
components (good example spygone)... :)

For normal users i think two decent spyware programs should be ok if they do
have firewall to see outbound connections, that way they should get idea
that something is wrong in their system.

I myself have hardware firewall / nat / software firewall etc also just to
be in safe side :) Besides that i do keep track what services are on my
system, what is in startup etc.
