Home networking - cant get to microsoft website

My set up is this:

DSL using USB modem connection to Win2000 Pc.
That Win2000 pc connected to an ethernet hub
2 other PCs connected to the hub. 1 is Windows ME and the other is laptop
put on today which is Windows XP.

The Win2k pc is set up as host for ICS
The other 2 pcs are set up as clients.

I can connect to the net on the 2 client pcs, I can even play my Everquest
game on the ME one fine with no problems.
I can also get to SOME websites but quite a few dont load up and the
microsoft website itself times out and will not load up at all on either of
the client pcs (it responds with 'cannot find server or dns error'). It will
load up just fine on the host one.
The result being I cannot patch either of the client machines, no downloads,
anything on them.
The fact I am having some internet connection is whats causing me to scratch
my head. If I had nothing at all at least that should make finding the
problem easier but I have no idea why some sites wont load up, some do on
occasion and microsoft one doesnt ever want to work at all.
Anyone any clue?
