Wireless networking can't access some websites

I have two PCs, both running Win2000.

The host PC is connected to the internet using wireless broadband.

I can access anything using this PC.

The client PC connects to the host using a Belkin F5D6050 wireless
adapter. From the client I can see all shared folders on the host and
access them.
The two network adapters talk to each other faultlessly.

[From the host I can see the client computer, but even if I share
something I can't access it.
But this is not a major issue.]

The real problem is this:

From the client PC, there are quite a few websites I can't access.
For a start, anything to do with Microsoft - any MSN sites, update sites
and I also can't get onto the http Hotmail site. It comes up with "website
found, waiting for reply" and that's as far as it will go.
I can access any MS site including Hotmail from the host.

Additionally, ICQ refuses to connect from the client, as does MSN
messenger.
I have a firewall on the client, but the host computer has no firewall.
The firewall on the client has been configured for allowing Messenger, ICQ
etc.

You may have had a virus/parasite modify your hosts file. That is a file that
contains name to IP mappings that will be used instead of a lookup to your dns
server. I would be sure to check your computer for viruses and parasites using the
latest definitions for each. To check your hosts file you can search for it. It
should be in the \winnt\system32\drivers\etc folder and by default contain only one
entry for local host. --- Steve
