I have a PC and laptop both pluggeed into the same router. I have run the
network setup wizard on both machines. However, whenever I try to get to the
shared printer from the laptop I get asked for a password! Then when I type
in my user name and password for the PC nothing happens, it just keeps asking
me for my password. I did set the file and printer sharing to "on" for the PC
and the laptop.

Any help is appreciated~!

Larry,

Do your two computers use Guest, or non-Guest authentication? Is the
authenticating account properly activated, with an identical password, on both
computers?

Please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with
more information to help other people understand the problem:

1. What version of Windows does each computer run? if it's Windows
XP, is it Home Edition or Professional?

2. If the PC has Windows XP Professional, is simple file sharing
enabled or disabled? To see, open My Computer, click Tools | Folder
Options | View, and scroll to the end of the list of advanced
settings.

3. What is the complete and exact text of the password prompt?
